New York City celebrates Cuba!
NUEVA YORK.-Some day everywhere in the world people would talk about the justice of the Cuban Revolution or about how love had so much to give and at such a high cost or about how expensive it has been the Cuban vision of transforming our world into a "home" closer to all of us and more humane. Well, that vision turned into a knot in our throats this Saturday September 23 in New York City as we were talking about the Blockade and the need to put an end to it to allow Cuba its right to live. All good emotions came together at the Society of New York for Ethical Culture, where hundreds of friends came together in support of Cuba, the homeland resisting the imperial blockade.
President Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his partner Lis Cuesta Peraza arrived to this beautiful place to share a message: Cuba extends its hugs to the people of the United States and all brothers and sisters in the world sharing a vision for a better world. People participating began to sing "build the future, break the blockade" and "people united will never be defeated" in the midst of calls of "Viva Cuba, "Viva Fidel y el socialismo." Yvan Eduardo Gil, minister of Foreign Relations of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, joined us and shared his ideas about humanity, sharing proposals for a better world.
We listened to the heartbeat of the world in times of revolution. And all was animated by the music of Arturo O' Farril and Jazz Latino. "We are very moved participating with you in this act of solidarity, listening to dignified American voices, voices of the people of the United States, in support of Cuba and Venezuela and our sister revolutions while saying NO to the sanctions and the Blockade." In his speech the legacies of Fidel and of Chavez emerged but also the understanding that their struggle is not only for Cuba or Venezuela but for the South, for a better world -«a better world is possible».
The Cuban president shared how the US government denied Cuba medical oxygen and pulmonary ventilators during the difficult times of COVID-19. It was Cuban scientists who created the vaccines who saved the Cuban people and it was Cuban youth who fabricated pulmonary ventilators of high efficiency saving the people and the country helping control the pandemic. The vaccines proved to be among the best in the world and so were the pulmonary ventilators and the protocols developed by Cuba in dealing with the pandemic. «Importantly, it was highly motivating, in this complex scenario, to receive international solidarity in particular in the form of huge number of syringes arriving from many parts of the world including from the United States, you sent them, he pointed highlighting the friends from the New York Society for Ethical Culture there today.»
It is true, the imperial blockade hurts us, deprives us, causes penuries and difficulties, but it has not been able to bring the Cuban Revolution down, and it is never going to succeed in this. «The Creative Resistance of the Cuban people has shown that imperialism has no capacity to break our will or the commitment of our people with the Revolution and Socialism». «To you all in solidarity the fraternal hug of the Cuban people, and a friendly message to the people of the United States and to all peoples here represented.»
We firmly believe Fidel's teachings: there is no force capable of defeating the force of truth and there is no force capable of defeating the force of ideas.
